   Summary The U.S. Department of Justice announced that Dino Bouterse, a Surinamese citizen who assisted in forming Suriname’s Counter-Terrorism Unit, was sentenced in federal court in New York City to 195 months in prison for attempting to provide material support to Hezbollah, narcotics trafficking, and firearms offenses. The sentence was imposed by U.S. District Judge Shira A. Scheindlin after Bouterse pleaded guilty on August 29, 2014.

Bouterse was arrested in Panama on August 29, 2013, arrived in the United States on August 30, 2013, and the case was assigned to United States District Judge Shira A. Scheindlin.
